Barack Obama - The Author

Barack Obama's 1995 book, Dreams from My Father, is a memoir of his youth and early career. The book was reprinted in 2004 with a new preface and an annex containing his 2004 Democratic Convention keynote speech. The audio book edition earned Obama the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album. In December 2004, Obama signed a US $1.9 million contract for three books.
The first of these book under contract, The Audacity of Hope, was published in October 2006. A Spanish translation will be published in June 2007, more than likely seeking an even broader range of readers throughout America. The second book covered under the publishing contract is a children's book to be co-written by his wife and daughters, with profits going to charity. The content of the third book has not yet been announced.

While I think it is an amazing idea to have a politically based blog at Bellarmine, I have just a few questions regarding this publication. First I was wondering the source of the information for your posts. The information is pertinent to any American student today but it would be interesting to know your sources (and perhaps less illegal if it is not exclusively your own knowledge) so that one might understand the point of view from which the information derives (i.e. fox news isn't going to give the same spin as the new york times or the guardian.) Secondly, although I completely sympathize with your views and also regard Barack Obama in the highest regard, I noticed that your site is supposed to be devoted to presenting information from both ends of the political spectrum. I read all of the articles on the first page available and skimmed the rest, and everyone (including "the audacity of obama") seems to be pushing the same basic issues. I also consider myself very liberal, love Obama, and think the war is a complete fiasco, but I fail to see where you present the other side of things. It can be nice to hear your counterparts arguments if only for the sake of understanding how better to refute their arguments. (and to understand that perhaps there can be some reason to seemingly unreasonable politics). I suppose I just have an issue with the fact that you don't seem to deliver what you promise. Irregardless of all of that, your blog shows more political conviction than I've seen out of Bellarmine since I've been here, and it is refreshing. So keep on keepin' on.
